Akshay Kumar : "I invest in my wife’s jewellery

Akshay Kumar has turned a gold man. He will now be seen endorsing Manappuran Gold Loan. The actor chats up with our correspondent on his new avatar.

Do you have any inclination towards gold?
(Laughs) No...not at all. I am not into gold. You won't find me wearing gold chains, rings, bracelets...I am a simple man and am happy if my basic needs are fulfilled. But yes, my wife (Twinkle Khanna), my mother and my sister love wearing gold. See, with Manappuram Gold Loan, I am endorsing a good social message, not gold.

That means, you do buy a lot of gold for Twinkle...
Nei ji. I am an intelligent man. I don't get her earrings, or bangles or rings, or necklaces. I give her cash and Tina (Twibkle) to help herself with whatever she likes.

personal life?
Jabse maine hosh samhala hai, I have not taken any loan. We are not from a big background. I don't know if my parents have ever taken a loan or not. They made sure that I don't worry about these things in life; they never let me realize that we don't have so much money. My parents made sure I am never in dearth of anything. As for me, I have not required a loan so far in my life.

What are the areas where you invest?
I do a lot in insurances, bonds, fixed deposits...I invest in properties. These are the four-five things that I majorly do by default. Besides, I have my own production house. And then, I invest in my wife's jewellery. That's all.

What's the contract period for this 'social message' endorsement?
At the moment we have a very long term association with each other. They are here with a good message that if you have gold, why go for personal or business loans. I find this message logical. So I 'm here. And also, they are the highest taxpayers; so is me...we have many things in common, you know.

Coming to your profession, you are all set to host Master Chef India. From Fear Factor to cookery show, how did things shape up?
When I did Fear Factor, I could identify myself with the stunts. And in Master Chef also, I see myself as someone who can be a part of it. I have done this (cooking), I know the ingredients, I know how to make the dishes.

When asked about his inspiration behind, “Hotel Hollywood”, Param said, “I wanted to make a first rate thriller for Indian audience which could strike a chord with mainstream audience and the regional markets. It stars fresh faces Mehr Hassan, Arsh Singh and Rahul Nath”. ‘Hotel Hollywood’ Music has been composed by Shyam Vai, Cinematography by Mathew Boyd and Special Effects by Hollywood’s Richard Miranda who has worked with the likes of Steven Speilberg. How many of us constantly rant about inefficacies in the system and the corrupt practices of the netas? Well, Akshay Kumar joins the club with his next movie, Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha.

He recently shot for the movie’s most controversial track, Bullshit. The song is aimed at corrupt politicians and pokes fun at them. It trails the existing state of affairs with respect to shoddy construction work, slow proceedings and traffic woes.

In the movie, Akshay’s character Sachin Tichkule starts coughing while listening to a politician’s speech and when questioned, says that he is allergic to bullshit. When the netas deliver speeches, making empty assurances, Akshay says, ‘I don’t like bullshit!”

Akshay essays the role of a struggling, but honest road contractor with big dreams, but who ultimately succumbs to the corrupt practices of the system.
The song was added after a lot of contemplation and was conceptualised by Akshay. On seeing the first rushes of the film, Priyadarshan and Akshay realised that the movie needed a song that would justify the overall premise of the movie. That’s how Bullshit came about. It’s a daring and controversial song and has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya who calls it a ‘song with a message.’

TV czarina-film producer Ekta Kapoor has been offered the female lead in Nikhil Saini's next opposite filmmaker Anurag Kashyap.

Says a source in Balaji Telefilms, "Though Ekta has played herself in her brother Tusshar Kapoor's film C Kkompany (2008) and has done cameos in her TV serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. But this is the first time she will play a fictional character and a full-fledged role. It's a romantic drama and currently everything is hush-hush till the casting falls in place. Ekta has always been apprehensive about facing the camera."

The film will be a small-budget, gritty and realistic yet commercially sensible film. Nikhil's good friend Boney Kapoor will be distributing it.

Kapoor blames work commitments for her 'unavailability'. Adds the source, "She is busy with Milan Luthria's Once Upon A Time In Mumbai, which releases on July 29. She then gets into the marketing and promotion of Tusshar's next release Shor as well as some new TV serial launches this year. Apart from that Ekta is busy setting up an acting academy she plans to launch soon. Right now, she just has no time for a full-fledged role in any film."

The source adds, "Though she has told the producer she won't be able to do it they still insisted on meeting her to narrate the role and script. The meeting is today. If she says yes, her friend Manish Malhotra will be doing her styling."

Producer Nikhil Saini sounds shocked when we ask him about it. "Please don't write about it now," he requests and adds that it will spoil his chances of getting his cast in place. "It's too early to say anything." Is it because he will be meeting Ekta today to discuss the script with her? "I am sorry I can't say anything else."

I Hate Luv Storys mobile phone game launched by Imran Khan

Actor Imran Khan is now busy promoting his upcoming movie, I Hate Luv Storys. Recently, the actor attended the launching ceremony of I Hate Luv Storys mobile phone game.

Talking about the game, Imran Khan said that the game has four stages and each stage is related to the movie. Imran Khan admitted that he himself enjoy playing games a lot. He owns an X-Box console and he played the entire series of Prince of Persia. For this reason, the idea of launching a game based on his movie appealed to him very much.

Though Imran Khan is only three movies old, he is very much popular among females. Recently, the actor was in Dubai promoting his movie and at that time a crazy female fan of his tried to get rich of him but she could not. She just held on to his hand and would not let it go. Imran’s security guards tried to take her away and she got angry and bit Imran’s hand.

Now the question is, does Avantika Malik, the would be Mrs. Khan feel unsecured about all these? The answer is No. About the incident, Imran Khan said,

"I'm sure that girl didn't want to hurt me. It was just that she wanted to kiss my hand but since she started pulling me towards the crowd and the security guys were pulling me the other way, it resulted in her biting me,……Avantika had no problem with that incident because she doesn't have problems with the female attention I get. In fact, she feels that the more female fans I have, the more successful I am,"

The game is developed by UTV Indiagames. It has levels like-Theatre Blues, Love ****tail, Dance of Envy and Race for Love.

I Hate Luv Sotrys will release in theatres on July 2, 2010. The movie stars Imran Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Sameer Dattani, Samir Soni, and Aamir Ali. The movie is directed by Punit Malhotra.

Salman Khan is in Colombo shooting for the first schedule of Anees Bazmee's Ready. Bhushan Kumar is producing the film.

While Khan is currently shooting indoors at the Taj Colombo, the coming week will see him hit the beach and a few other outdoor locations. Keeping the safety issue in mind his personal security has been upgraded to Z-grade.

Confirming this from Colombo, Ajay Kapoor of T-Series says, "Yes we have upgraded his security. There was no point in taking chances. As soon as Bhushanji heard that Salmanbhai was shooting outdoors, we got his security upgraded. He's like family, so there was no issue in getting him the proper security."

A source adds that the star was keen on shooting in Sri Lanka after attending a recently held film award event. "Despite the protests, Salman wanted to go ahead on schedule and shoot in Colombo. Also he's given block dates for the film because of his relations with Bhushan."

Praising Sallu's dedication, Kapoor adds, "He's come on time every single day and the shoot has been going on as per schedule."

Dus Sar Wala Abhishek completes Dus Saal in Bollywood

Abhishek Bachchan The 'Dus Sar Wala' of Bollywood, Abhishek Bachchan, completes 10 years in the film industry today. Yes, exactly on this very date (June 30), 10 years ago, Junior Bachchan made his debut with J.P. Dutta's Refugee. It's been quite a roller-coaster ride for this talented actor since then who had to wait for almost 4 years for his first big hit Dhoom.

Since then there has been no looking back for Abhishek who has delivered memorable performances in films like Sarkar, Yuva, Bunty Aur Babli, Bluffmaster, Guru, Sarkar Raj and Dostana. While his last few films including the recently released Raavan have not worked at the Box Office, there is no denying the fact that he is indeed one of the most hard working and versatile actors we currently have.

Abhishek himself expressed gratitude to all his fans on Twitter for their love and support. "Today I complete 10 yrs in the industry. Refugee released 30 June 2000. Thank you all for the tolerance, love and blessings."
