Veena trying to do a Vidya Balan!
Pakistani actress Veena Malik seems to be following Viday Balan's footsteps. She has finished shooting for three Bollywood films, "Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai", "Zindagi 50-50" and "Mumbai 125 km", and says all are female centric movies.
"I have always tried to choose and sign such films which have a female-oriented character, where the script is based on the female protagonist," Veena told reporters here.
"Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai" is a comedy, "Zindagi 50-50" is an issue-based drama and "Mumbai 125 km" is a suspense-thriller.
Veena is now shooting for "Rajani Ki Lag Gai".
"I don't have a hero in any one of films I have signed till now except 'Supermodel'. Every film is the story of a girl and the whole story revolves around her."
She has teamed up with Ashmit Patel in "Supermodel" - the two became close when they featured in the reality show "Bigg Boss 4".

Set your priorities right: Karisma
Actress Karisma Kapoor, who had taken a break from films after marriage, says it is good to work provided you set your priorities right.
"I have taken a lot of break in the middle, which I really enjoyed. Taking care of kids and family was very important to me. That will always be my first priority," said Karisma who is returning to movies after nine years.
"Now my daughter is older and she has started going to school, so I get time. If you work in moderation and prioritize, it's good to work and be active," the 37-year-old told reporters here at the launch of McDonalds Spongebob Happy Meal.
Karisma quit showbiz after marrying Delhi-based businessman Sanjay Kapur in 2003. They have two children - daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. Now she is making a comeback with Vikram Bhatt's 3D film "Dangerous Ishq".
Meanwhile, referring to younger sister Kareena's comment that their grandfather Raj Kapoor was biased towards her, Karisma said: "I think she means it in a nice way. I was the first grandchild and then I had my grandfather's eyes.
"I think there was a little gap and then Kareena, Ranbir and Riddhima came in quick succession. So, I was the special one for a while."
Karisma will be seen as a supermodel in "Dangerous Ishq", which also features model-turned-actor Rajneesh Duggal in the male lead. It is slated for a May release.

Despite Emraan and Mohit, Bhatts expand their empire
02 weeks ago
For Bhatt brothers, family has always been on a forefront. However, above it all, there is business that has holds maximum prominence. Never the kind to get bogged down by star system, they have always maintained that fresh talent is what they are constantly in look out for. No wonder, after enjoying a healthy association with Emraan Hashmi, Mohit Suri and Kangna Ranaut, Mukesh and Mahesh Bhatt are now getting their alternate plans in place as well. The new entrants? Kunal Khemu, Vishal Mahadkar/Kunal Deshmukh and Esha Gupta.
"It is pretty much a Plan B in action here. The going is good with the likes of Emraan and Mohit. However, all of them can't be expected to work with each other film after film. There has to be a succession plan as well. It is business after all. Bhatts have been thinking ahead of time and are now putting their bet on fresh blood. This is the reason why Kunal just got a re-launch with Blood Money, Vishal is being groomed, Kunal is being trusted to deliver goods all over again with Jannat 2 while Esha is already enjoying a three film contract. It is 360 degree approach with newer actors, actresses and directors", informs an insider.

No wonder, the buck isn't stopping for these artists here. Buzz is that Kunal and Vishal have already been signed for their next film with Bhatts even though they have been instructed to keep mum about the development. It is unclear though whether they would be uniting for the same film. On the other hand, Kunal is already committed to make another film for Bhatts. As for Esha, it is a known fact that after Jannat 2 and Raaz 3, she would be beginning her next film too with Bhatts.
"This doesn't mean though that Emraan and Mohit have been pushed back", a source from the production house adds, "Emraan is still their 'ghar ka hero' and a blue eyed boy. After Raaz 3 he would start work on Murder 3. On the other hand, Mohit is already directing Aashiqui 2 though he is almost close to signing films with outside production houses as well. Yes, Kangna is no more in circulation since she isn't a part of Bhatts' scheme of things ever since Raaz - The Mystery Continues. Perhaps Esha would fill that slot though Bipasha has a good chance too as she has returned to Bhatt fold with Raaz 3."
All of this means that after Yash Raj Films, the only production house to build a mini empire of its own with a set of loyal (or shall we say contracted?) actors happen to be that of Bhatts. On contacted, Mukesh Bhatt didn't deny the developments. He said, "Yes, we like to work with people who show promise. Vishal and Kunal would be making more films with us while Esha and Kunal would be repeated as well."

Actress Sonakshi Sinha is all set to essay the role of a gangster’s moll in the sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’, opposite Akshay Kumar.
“Its official! @sonakshisinha is part of one of the films I’m looking forward to watching the most. ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAI..AGAIN,” said Sonakshi Sinha’s brother, Luv on Twitter.
After playing similar characters in Dabangg and upcoming films Rowdy Rathore and Joker she will work opposite Akshay kumar one again. In Once Upon A Time In Mumbai 2, Akshay Kumar will play an underworld don Shoaib and Sonakshi will be featured as Mandakini who falls in love with Shohaib. Reportedly, earlier Kareena Kapoor and Kangana Ranuat were approached for this role. This is Sonakshi’s third outing with Akshay. She has teamed up with the ‘Khiladi’ in Shirish Kunder’s ‘Joker’ and Prabhu Deva’s ‘Rowdy Rathore’. Both the films are slated to release this year.
The sequel to ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai’ stars Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi and Imran Khan in lead roles and will be directed by Milan Luthria. Akshay will be playing Shoaib, a character modelled on underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in the movie.
Dia Mirza Dubs Herself in Her First Bengali Film

Whenever Bollywood actresses have done Bengali films in the past, they have “never been heard”. From Aishwarya Rai (Chokher Bali) to Manisha Koirala (Khela) to Bipasha Basu (Shob Choritro Kalponik), the B-town beauties have always been dubbed by local actresses or voice artistes. But for Paanch Adhyay, her first regional film, Dia Mirza has dubbed her Bengali lines herself.
Dia, whose mother is a Bengali, plays the half-Bengali Ishita, an English school teacher, in the film co-starring Priyanshu Chatterjee and the legend Soumitra Chatterjee. “I would say my Bangla was decent before I filmed Paanch Adhyay and post filming, spending time in Kolkata, conversing with so many people during my time there, it has only gotten better. I still would like to learn to think in Bangla,” says Dia.
Paanch Adhyay, written and directed by first-timer Pratim D. Gupta, is the journey of a couple across the five chapters of their lives. “My character travels through the ups and downs of marriage and the poignancy of love… lost and found,” adds Dia. “I am at a head space now where I am looking to expand my horizons. Bangla is my mother tongue and it makes all the more special that my first regional film is Bengali.”
The film, which has music by Shantanu Moitra, is currently in post-production and is eyeing a late summer release this year in Bengal and the metro cities.
