Anil plans to make another women-centric film for Sonam

0

After the movie Aisha, actor Anil Kapoor is all set to make another women-centric film. The Bollywood star’s next will be directed by none other than his younger daughter Rhea. The interesting aspect of the film is that his elder daughter Sonam Kapoor is likely to play the female protagonist in it. Sonam is still trying to find her footing in Bollywood and another film with her father Anil Kapoor would only help her!

The father-daughter duo paired up together last time for Aisha starring Abhay Deol, which was produced by Anil. The film was based on the famous British novel Emma. Aisha tanked at the box office but that has not deterred the 52-year-old actor from taking his chances and making films on subjects that are close to his heart.

Addressing the Lavasa Women’s Drive event in Mumbai yesterday, Anil Kapoor revealed his plans about doing another woman-oriented film. “And again, I am making another women-centric film and very soon you will hear about it. Rhea is working and developing the script,” PTI quotes Anil as saying. When asked about the lead, he said, “It depends upon Rhea as she is very particular about casting. If she feels Sonam is the right choice, then she would be there.”

Anil Kapoor added, “Women-centric films need to be made in Bollywood. I myself made a woman centric film like ‘Aisha’ and I am very happy and proud of that. I have worked in quite a few women oriented films. I have been very proud and honored. I think we leading men must support and encourage women oriented films. I see that leading men are not very happy being part of women oriented films. And the best films made in our country including Mother India was a female centric film, and even till today the film is remembered.”

Anil Kapoor had produced Aisha in 2010 with his younger daughter Rhea. The movie, which was based on the 1815 British novel Emma, starred Sonam and Abhay Deol in lead roles. But the had not fared well at the box office. However, the actor-turned-producer is not bothered about the failure.

However, Lavasa Women’s Drive is aimed at spreading awareness about cervical cancer this year. Talking about it, Anil Kapoor said, “When a girl or woman crosses the age of 20, they should undergo constant check-ups. If cancer is detected early, it can be eradicated and this is the kind of awareness we all need to spread. This would stop and control cancer. I feel lot of women in the interior parts of this country need to be educated and made aware, about cancer than women living in metro cities.”

Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavanan’ part of Austrian Film Museum

0
Indian filmmaker Mani Ratnam's 'Raavanan' is now part of the permanent collection at the Austrian Film Museum, which has so far only 15 Indian films in its list.
Alexander Horwath, director of the museum, was trying to get a copy of 'Raavanan' ever since he saw it at the Venice Film Festival where Ratnam received the Glory to the Filmmaker Award in 2010.
"It was a glorious evening and 'Raavanan' was screened after the award ceremony," Horwath told IANS.

Starring Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan and southern star Vikram, the bilingual was released in 2010 -- the Hindi version was titled 'Raavan' and Tamil one was called 'Raavanan'.
'Raavanan' is one of the 25,500 films already in the collection of the museum that is also home to a library with more than 20,000 books and over 200 magazine titles covering a broad range of film related topics. Horwath, however, regrets out of the thousands of films in his collection only about 15 are from India, including three works of Satyajit Ray and 'Veer Zaara'.
But he was so enchanted with the film that he saw the Hindi version and remains overawed at Ratnam's scope of engagement with both the literary and mythological aspects of his culture.

Salman Khan to got to court??

0

Vijay Galani the producer of the 2010 film Veer, was banned by the FWICE (Federation Of Western India Cine Employees), from filmmaking, following a complaint filed by Salman Khan, a few days back. The4 producer has now taken his enemity with the actor to the court

“The Non-Cooperation Directive issued against me is illegal. If it had to be issued it had to be in conjunction with AMTPP (Association of Motion Pictures Producers’ Association). But AMTPP has not endorsed it. I can make a film whenever I want to. This is sheer torture. I want to resolve this. I have done no wrong,” Galani told a tabloid.

Why did Salman Khan file a complaint against the producer?
Well, Sallu was not paid a sum of Rs 15 crore by the filmmaker for his role in Veer.

Galani further says, “Unnecessarily, people have accused me of not paying Salman his dues. I am clean. I know what I am saying. I have kept quiet for too long. Not anymore though,” and added, “Why doesn’t Salman talk to me if he has a problem? You know what, I have met him at least seven to eight times in the past and he has never mentioned anything about an outstanding payment for Veer. Yes, I know he has lodged a complaint against me in FWICE. So what? He doesn’t have the papers to prove that I have to give him any money.”

And now, Galani has filed a case against the film governing body. “I do not owe any money to Salman. I spoke to this paper exclusively in January this year and I maintain my stand. Let the Court decide now. I cannot tolerate this nonsense any longer,” said the filmmaker.

However, FWICE President, Dharmesh Tiwari maintains that they have done no wrong in issuing the Non-Cooperation Directive against Galani. “We are fighting for FWICE and Salman Khan. My lawyer will deal with this now in Court. I don’t want to say anything further on this for now,” said Tiwari.

Vijay Galani ready to fight with Salman Khan

We had reported a few days that Vijay Galani, the producer of the 2010 Salman Khan-starrer ‘Veer’ has been banned from filmmaking by FWICE until he settles his dispute with Salman over remuneration. The producer had incurred the superstar’s wrath for allegedly not paying his dues amounting to nearly Rs 12 crore.

After weeks of keeping silent on the issue, now Vijay Galani, a member of the Association Of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers (AMPTPP) has hit back strongly at the allegations of wrongdoing. He stated in a press release that he denied Salman’s claim and said there was no such evidence or document brought on records of the Association to substantiate it. He added that inadvertently the FWICE had illegally issued a ‘non-cooperation’ statement against him which is against the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between the producers’ body and the FWICE. “AMPTPP has already intimated FWICE for withdrawal of the directive illegally issued by FWICE,” the release stated.

Galani further said that even Ratan Jain, president of AMPTPP has said the FWICE cannot issue non-cooperation directives unilaterally. AMPTPP has come up in support for the producer and even directed FWICE to lift the ban on Galani as the ban is against the MOU between FWICE and Producers' Bodies.

Mukesh Bhatt, the chairman of the joint core committee of producers stated that both parties have been asked to arrange a meeting until the non-cooperation is withdrawn.

Well.... Not many know the fact that Salman and Vijay Gaglani came into contact way back in 1992 when he offered Salman the lead role in 'Suryavanshi'. The movie didn't create much noise but Salman found pal in Vijay... Due to his closeness to Salman, Vijay was able to produce 'Veer' which again failed at the box-office.

Salman on occasion has left his dues when he has found that the producer is not able to pay due to losses.

Christian Protest Over ´Hosanna´ : A.R. Rahman, Javed Akhtar & Fox Clarify!

AR Rahman made news with his latest compositions in the film Ek Deewana Tha, however an excess of anything can spell doom, and the same is the case with the track 'Hosanna' which has been making waves in the music world.

The music track is popular and it seems to grow in popularity with each passing day, the Christian Secular Forum (CSF) in Mumbai has objected to the use of the word ‘Hosanna’. They claim the word to be a sacred term used only within prayer songs among Christians and Jews.

We are very proud to once again associate with Mr. A. R. Rahman and Javed Sahab for the music score and lyrics of our film Ekk Deewanna Tha which releases on the 17th of February.

The Tamil and Telegu versions of the film (which too were directed by Gautham Menon) were released in 2010 in which the same song which is currently in the news, Hossana, was used.

We, Mr. Rahman, Gautham Menon, Javed Sahab and all involved in the film are therefore extremely surprised to have heard from Mr. Joseph Dias of the CSF on their views now, on our song.

Mr. Rahman said "As with any film project I work on, I had spent several months researching before composing/writing all the songs for Ekk Dewaana Tha and had consulted friends who are Christian in particular about the use of the word "Hosanna" in this song. The song was a sensation when it was released in the South a couple of years ago and it went on to win all possible music awards and was well received by all communities! Therefore I am deeply concerned about the sentiments of all those who appear to be hurt by this song"

Javed Sahab said " When we write lyrics with great composers such as Mr. Rahman, who is one of the most respectable human beings I have had the pleasure of working with, the intention is never to insult any religion, why would we?"

Fox Star Spokesperson says "Our organisation, our music partners Sony Music Entertainment, our Producers and all of us are responsible organisations and our view is that more often than not creativity, freedom of speech and expression in art form are stifled by some people who have their own agendas. We have replied to Mr. Jospeh Dias today by letter."
