In one of the most unconventional casting coups to have taken place in recent times, the unthinkable has happened with actors as diverse as Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor coming together for a film which has been interestingly titled Bhaiyyaji Superhit. The film would go on floors early next year and there are plans to release it in 2012 itself. What makes the film further noticeable is the fact that it would be directed by Sunny’s close aide Neeraj Pathak.
Confirms a source, “Yes, Sunny and Neeraj were committed to make a film with each other. It was more of a personal and emotional commitment rather than just professional since they shared a great equation during the making of Right Yaaa Wrong. It stays on to be one of the better movies featuring Sunny and he regrets that it couldn’t do well due to poor marketing and promotion. He promised Neeraj that they would make a film together again and have now zeroed in on Bhaiyyaji Superhit.”

Kareena stays on top with yet another Rs. 100 crore plus blockbuster
07 months ago
Kareena Kapoor has reaffirmed her place as the numero uno female superstar in the business. Her Bodyguard has taken a historic opening all over and while it is a given that Kareena would be enjoying a Rs. 100 crore superhit all over again, calculations have already begun to gauge how far would the film go beyond the Rs. 150 crore mark.
"Frankly, she is now fighting with herself at the top slot", says a trade guru, "She is the only actress with one Rs. 200 crore grosser (3 Idiots) and another Rs. 100 crore plus success (Golmaal 3) to her name. Now Bodyguard has almost touched Rs. 100 crore after a Rs. 21 crore opening on its opening day. To think of it, this is a 9 day run that we are talking about and there are still two more days to go, for the first week."

Though 3 Idiots was pretty much termed as Aamir-Hirani success more than anything else, Golmaal 3 was a package affair where credit was shared between Ajay, Kareena, Rohit Shetty, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor amongst others. However, Bodyguard has turned out to be a film that has stood entirely on the shoulders of Salman and Kareena.
"Even though Kareena was enjoying an author backed outing, she kept quiet right through the film's promotional campaign that was driven around Salman. She knew that once audiences would watch the film, they would realise that it isn't an out and out Salman Khan entertainer and was actually a love story. Now that the film has opened to packed houses, Kareena is thrilled since after Jab We Met and Kurbaan, her performance has come into limelight all over again", says a close associate.
However in an industry where it is moolah that does all the talking and pretty much positions a star on the right step in the ladder of success, Kareena is now pretty much ruling from the top. With a film each with every other Khan in the business - Ra.One (Shah Rukh Khan), Agent Vinod (Saif Ali Khan), tentatively titled Dhuaan (Aamir Khan) and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu (Imran Khan) - releasing over next six months, Kareena is enjoying the best phase of her career.
When contacted, Kareena wasn't too keen to talk about the number business. She admitted though that this is a thrilling moment for her. "We knew that the film would be a big success but such huge collections in the first few days itself are unbelievable. Inshallah, the film should only grow bigger from this point on", she says.
How much bigger? Well, we would know in a couple of weeks from now.

The original Munna-Circuit jodi it is!!!

Last week, we reported that Aamir Khan and Sharman joshi would replace Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi as the the new Munna-Circuit jodi. However, the latest we hear is that there is no truth in the story. and were complete rumors.
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra finally broke the suspense. Talking to a daily, the official representative of Chopra rubbished the rumours saying, “We are not even ready with the script of the next ‘Munna Bhai’ flick and this is a baseless humour. Vidhu Vinod Chopra doesn’t begin the casting for his films until he completes his script. Besides, Aamir Khan is not free for another two years.”
Aamir Khan also revealed that even if he was offer the role of Munna bhai, he would refuse to take it up. He also says that he was unaware of all these rumors. He added that no one in the industry could essay the role of Munna Bhai, better than Sanjay Dutt.
Shig!! This is seriously a great sign of relief for all the Munna-Circuit fans.
Aamir Khan the new Munna Bhai?
Mumbai: According to the grapevine, Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi may replace Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi as Munna Bhai and Circuit respectively, in the next edition of Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai franchise.
An industry source reveals, "The idea of casting Aamir and Sharman came up during the shoot of 3 Idiots.
Hirani felt that a new pair would bring in a fresh breath of air into the film. Aamir and Sharman have amazing comic timing and also great chemistry onscreen. You can see that even in their first film together, Rang De Basanti.

When he shared the idea with Aamir, he loved it. He told Rajkumar that he would be game for it if the script was interesting."
Another source says, "Though Sanjay played Munna Bhai to perfection, having Aamir on board will take the franchise to the next level. He is not only a fine actor, but also a much bigger brand name, and a marketing genius."
A source closely working with the franchise informs, "A few months ago, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani had a closed door meeting with Sanju, where they told him that they would not be going ahead with him in the Munna Bhai sequel.
This definitely upset Sanju." It may be noted that Chopra and Hirani were conspicuous by their absence at Sanjay and Maanyata's party, recently. When contacted, Hirani denied these claims.

Arshad Warsi Wants Kangana Ranaut to be in Ishqiya sequel
Wants director to cast his 'Double Dhamaal' co-star in 'Ishqiya' sequel
Now that we know Vidya Balan is not playing the lead in Ishqiya sequel, it is a big question as to who will replace her.
However, from what we have heard Arshad Warsi, who starred in the prequel alongside Vidya and Naseeruddin Shah, has already made his choice.
He is keen on having his Double Dhamaal co-star Kangna Ranaut in it and is pushing filmmakers to cast her.
Open suggestions
An industry insider informs, "He has recommended her name to director Abhishek Chaubey and producer Vishal Bharadwaj and Ketan Maroo because he strongly feels that she suits the role and is a perfect femme fatale."
Both the actors worked together for the first time in the recently released DD and bonded big time.
Another source adds, "After rom-com Tanu Weds Manu and comedy Double Dhamaal, Kangna's versatility as an actress has been established.
These films have proved the audiences have accepted her. All these factors make her a strong contender for the role."
It's not Arshad
However, a friend of Kangna says it's not Arshad but the producer and director of the film who have approached her for the sequel.
"Abhishek and Ketan met and gave her a narration. She would love to work with them but she still has to work out her dates. Arshad has nothing to do with it. He got to know about it much later."
Both Kangna and Arshad were unavailable for comment, but we spoke to director Abhishek Chaubey. "We are still writing the script.
We haven't even thought about casting yet. Kangna is a fantastic actor. Once the character is formed only then we will know whether she is suited for it or not," he said.
Double Dhamaal creates record amongst sequels

Double Dhamaal creates record amongst sequels
Double Dhamaal could well be looking at record books as far as Bollywood is concerned. In the history of sequels that have been churned out so far, this riotous comedy is the first ever film to see each of the five principal protagonists along with director being retained from Part One to the sequel.
"Dhamaal (2007) featured Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi and Ashish Chowdhry in principal roles and was directed by Indra Kumar. Now the same team has been retained in the sequel as well. This is a first by a long distance as practically ever sequel so far has seen a change either in the cast or the director", says a trade veteran.
He goes on to rattle down a dozen odd instances to substantiate his claim.
"While Phir Hera Pheri retained Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, the leading ladies changed. Also, Neeraj Vora directed the film instead of Priyadarshan", he continues, "Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi teamed up for Munnabhai sequel but Vidya Balan replaced Gracy Singh. Dhoom has seen only Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra being retained with leading ladies as well as villains continuing to change. Ditto for Koi Mil Gaya/Krrish where only Roshans are the constant factor. Golmaal Returns saw Sharman Joshi dropping out though amongst leading ladies Kareena Kapoor has managed to retain her place between Golmaal Returns and Golmaal 3."
Well, seems like this record for Double Dhamaal would be pretty much retained for long in future as well. If one looks at the line up of sequels which are releasing over next 1-2 years, practically each of them is seeing a change in the cast or director.
"Akshay Kumar has come in place of Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi for the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. Jacqueline Fernandez has replaced Mallika Sherawat in Murder 2. Rajat Kapoor is no more there in Bheja Fry sequel. Katrina Kaif is coming in place of Priyanka Chopra for Dostana 2", he details, "All leading ladies have been replaced in Housefull sequel and Arjun Rampal is out as well. Kaante would have an entirely different cast. The only film which has retained it's principal cast is Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra coming together. However Double Dhamaal has an edge since it has many more protagonists than Don 2."
Riteish Deshmukh, one of the key actors in Double Dhamaal, was taken by surprise when told about this record. "Oh really, none of us ever realised that", he exclaims, "Yes, it is a nice record to make after all. I will tell Induji (Indra Kumar) about it."
Detailing the need behind the same cast being retained, Riteish says, "It wouldn't have made sense if any of us would have been missing. Unlike many other sequels which have basically built a franchise, we are actually taking the story forward from where we left in Dhamaal. In fact at the beginning of the film, we would also be showing a recap of Dhamaal."

When Arshad Warsi jumped in polluted sea water in Hong Kong
011 months ago

Watching a comic film on the big screen is a laugh riot, however shooting for one is by no means a cake walk. Arshad Warsi learnt this the hard way recently while shooting for Indra Kumar's Double Dhamaal. The story goes like this, Arshad was required to do a stunt sequence which featured him taking a jump into the sea in Hong Kong and swimming a short distance.
However, the problem is that the Hong Kong harbour is a highly frequented place and owing to the massive nautical traffic and thrown out pollutants, the water is unsuitable to be swimming in it. Though swimming is permitted, it is possible only after administering a medical shot to counteract the pollutants. However, Arshad thinking that a short swim could do no harm popped a few pills and took the plunge.
It was only after boarding the boat did he realize the rashes that had developed on his skin. If that wasn't enough, the water of the harbour is known to be notoriously cold despite the pleasant whether on land. Fortunately, with medical attention the problem didn't aggravate.
