Huzefa Lokhandwala: Aamir’s knowledge is commendable
02 days ago
The credit for DELHI BELLY's success not only goes to Aamir Khan's shrewd marketing tactics and the immensely popular song 'Bhaag D K Bose', but also to the man who gave the mean comedy crisp editing to match with the storyline and now he is sweeping awards at various award functions. Well the man is none other than Huzefa Lokhandwala, who bagged the award for Best Editing for DELHI BELLY at the recently held 18th Annual Colors Screen Awards 2012 and 57th Filmfare Awards.
Huzefa Lokhandwala, who has 14 years of rich experience in the post production industry, with his distinct vision and creativity converted more than 400 hours of video footage of DELHI BELLY into a two hour movie without having diluted the directors vision. However for Huzefa it was all like solving a puzzle game. More than a challenge it was fun for him. Says Huzefa, "It's challenging but in the form of a puzzle game. More than challenge it was like having a fun."

Having said that, the award winning film required a special attention on the editing table as the genre and content of the film was unexplored. "The script of DELHI BELLY, written by Akshat, was very strong. It demanded a special attention and ample support on the editing table. The genre of DELHI BELLY was something new so you'd better try something innovative to make it work. It takes lot of guts to put together such a film and pull it out. As the script was untouched, there was a risk of it going slapstick. There was a pressure of not overdoing it. We constantly kept restricting ourselves to not overdo it," Says Huzefa.
He further adds, "With powerful editing your film can either go leaps and bounds ahead or very badly fare. It is such a powerful tool where the director finds his vision falling into place. He finds the vision unfurling. Editing is very important part of filmmaking as it comes towards the end."
Moreover, Huzefa and Abhinay Deo, the director of DELHI BELLY, share a great bonding and understanding as they both come from the same (advertising) industry. "With Abhinay I share a very casual relation as we know each other from long time. Abhinay chooses not give me any brief. He finds a perspective in me that he does not want to colour with his own briefs. He doesn't impose his own interpretation. On the contrary he likes to have my views as well. A lot of directors now-a-days give that space to the editor," says Huzefa.
As per Huzefa, DELHI BELLY's success is incomplete without Aamir Khan. His immense knowledge and huge experience contributed a lot for the film.
"The knowledge that Aamir brings from producers perspective is commendable. Being with him was a very humbling experience. His caliber is so immense and experience is so strong that whatever point he makes appears as valid and logical. There's no room for argument. If something is not working he has no qualms in preventing it. And the fact that DELHI BELLY worked tells a lot," says a modest Huzefa on a parting note.

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan who was last seen in Abbas-Mustan's "Players" was today honoured with a Green Globe award at the 4th Panasonic Green Globe Foundation for outstanding efforts by a celebrity to fight climate change. The awards have been instituted to salute the efforts of organisations and individuals fighting climate change through their work in environment preservation and regeneration.
The 35-year-old actor, who received the award from noted environmentalist RK Pachauri, said he has always tried to associate himself with organisations who make efforts for a greener future.
Talking to the PTI, Abhishek Bachchan said, "I am humbled to have got this award. I remember as a young student in boarding school I was taught about how much our earth is suffering due to our style of living. But as I left school and became an actor I somehow lost touch with all these things. But I met Dr Pachauri and that reiterated the belief in me that I can make a difference."
Abhishek, who has given hits like Guru and Dhoom, also promised to use his star power to educate people about the problems. Abhishek Bachchan added, “As an actor I have a platform to reach out to the masses and I want to put that to full use. I will continue to spread the message of global warming and educate people about the problems we might face in the future.”
The actor also said it is the youth, who can bring about a major difference in tackling the issue of global warming. "I believe the youth of our country is very powerful and sure about things it has to do. It is them who can bring about a major difference in tackling these climates issues. I hope the next time we don't need such award functions to highlight the issues of climate but every individual realises his/her responsibilities towards the environment."

With Vidya Balan winning awards and accolades left, right and center and has emerged as an A league actress, now all eyes are set on her forthcoming film KAHAANI directed by Sujoy Ghosh. KAHAANI is releasing just after her blockbuster THE DIRTY PICTURE so the expectations are bound to increase. While every other filmmaker is vying to work with the most sought after lady of B-town today, Sujoy is one such lucky director to have worked with Vidya, immediately after her newfound stardom.

SUJOY GHOSH
So is Sujoy wary of this fact and does it pressurize him to sustain what Vidya has achieved today with his upcoming film? Ask Sujoy about the humungous expectations and he says, ''The pressure is always there. In case, I had come before THE DIRTY PICTURE the pressure to make a good film still would have been there. Just because Vidya is riding high with success doesn't mean I can take things for granted. Though it does give me an advantage that my opening weekend will be packed.''
