Hrithik Roshan speaks out on Gay discrimination
India’s home ministry urged the country’s Supreme Court on Thursday to reverse a landmark decision to decriminalize gay sex, saying homosexuality was immoral, “against nature and spreads HIV.”

The issue of legalisation of homosexuality is one that has been greatly discussed and debated, with the latest colour being added to it by the home ministry. Actor Hrithik Roshan who was named a gay icon, too, raised his voice against the demeaning statements made by the home ministry.

While Additional Social General PP Malhotra’s argument against leagalisation of homosexuality drew sharp stares and gasps from the intelligentsia and commoners alike, actor Hrithik Roshan slammed the same by saying, “Discrimination against homosexuals is exactly that - discrimination. And ANY form of discrimination is WRONG. It`s taken us hundreds of years to evolve as a society and realize how ridiculous and preposterous discrimination against race/caste is. How many more years is it going to take us to be mature enough and learn to accept individual sexual inclination? Perhaps the starting point is to understand that homosexuality is NOT a matter of choice.”

ASG PP Malhotra had earlier argued that the society in India is not the same as that in other countries, and that there was “a high chance of spreading of diseases through such acts (gay sex)”. Hrithik went on to elaborate on homosexuality, “You cannot choose to be gay just because your friends are or vice versa. You cannot force someone to be attracted to someone they are not attracted to. It is perhaps genetically encoded. One is basically hardwired to be or not be attracted to the same sex. Which means it is a part of your genetic characteristic. You are born that way. Which means it is a part of and in alignment with the delicate balance of all the nature around us. Also it has existed since the evolution of man, so how can something that is part of nature and has existed forever be considered immoral beats me!”

The actor added, “Some of the most artistic, creative, genius, gifted minds in the world have had a similar sexual orientation. Any society that does not offer freedom to human beings to live as they are, to pursue their dreams, to express themselves as part of the human race is basically a society still in the clutches of the dark ages.”

The issue of gay rights caused another brouhaha on Thursday, with the home ministry calling gay sex "immoral" and "against social order", even seeking a fresh ban on it. Additional Social General (ASG) PP Malhotra appeared for the ministry and argued that Indian society is different from other countries, and could not imitate practices prevalent in foreign countries. "There is a high chance of spreading of diseases through such acts," he contended, opposing the Delhi's High Court order which had in 2009 decriminalised gay sex as provided in Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).



While the home ministry later made it clear that Malhotra's opposition did not reflect the government's decision not to take sides on gay sex, gay icon Hrithik Roshan is not ready to sit on the fence. He speaks out against discrimination and more.

Katrina Kaif to reprise Chikni Chameli in South?

The makers of Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath are flooded with offers, for South filmmakers are keen on buying the rights of the film. Whether Karan Johar will sell the rights is still to be seen, but filmmakers down South have already started to approach Katrina Kaif.

Katrina sizzled to perfection in the item number (Chikni Chameli) of Agneepath, and makers want the original item queen to be part of the Southern remake too. What’s also adding to the movement is the fact that Katrina is apparently doing a film with South superstar Rajinikanth.

However, Katrina is keeping very busy since she’s working on Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan and Yash Chopra’s next with Shah Rukh Khan. Apart from that, Kat’s two item numbers have been with people she’s been comfortable with, so she’s a bit unsure if she should be doing an item number with an outsider.

Now, only time will tell if Katrina will actually please her South Indian fans and sizzle to the tunes of Southern Chikni Chameli.

Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra-Sanjay Dutt starrer Agneepath has set the Indian Box Office on fire with its' record breaking collections on the opening day of its' release. The film is still doing an excellent job at the box office and experts in the industry believe the movie would go on to break many more records.

Just a day before the release of Agneepath, Karan Johar had revealed that it was his Late father Yash Johar’s dream to remake the 1990 cult classic by same name! Probably his dad was heartbroken seeing the result of his film at the box-office!

Bollywood had never been able to entertain audiences with the remakes but the 39-year-old Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’ has left everyone flabbergasted. He has given Bollywood industry the biggest opening ever in the form of ‘Agneepath’ and the producer now insists that it is a tribute to his father, Yash Johar, who produced the original ‘Agneepath’ back in 1990.

Karan Johar's remake of his father's 1990 film Agneepath has garnered an astoundingly positive reception. The original ‘Agneepath’, which featured Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, remained quite famous among the youth but the film failed at the Indian box office, which everyone perhaps doesn’t know.

However, the new ‘Agneepath’, released on January 26, 2012, broke recent opening day box office records, garnering Rs.25 crore. The collections have left behind figures of hits like 'Bodyguard' and 'RA.One', which made Rs.22 crore and Rs.18 crore, respectively. Therefore the delighted produce is now happy, as he thinks he has done justice to his father.

Karan Johar told to the reporters, “It’s my own revenge to the audience. Own son avenging his father’s flop (Laughs).

It’s strange thing that in perception Agneepath is not a flop. Only trade knows it. There are few films like Lamhe and Agneepath world doesn’t acknowledge as a failure. Youth loved it virally on videos and DVD world.”

He further ads, “I think we made this film is a big thing it’s a tribute to my father. It’s a special film for us it was not an easy task. To make a cult classic it comes with a lot of expectations and baggage.”

The new ‘Agneepath’ has featured superstar Hrithik Roshan as Vijay Deenanath Chauhan and Sunjay Dutt as Kancha Cheena. Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor has played another negative role in the movie and former Miss. World Priyanka Chopra has been shown as Vijay’s love (Kaali).

The movie already had a lot of hype among the audiences, especially after Katrina Kaif’s item number ‘Chikni Chameli’ was launched.

The film that has got rave reviews from fans and critics alike has become the highest grosser at the Indian box office. Staring Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, the film made Rs. 25 crore (all-India net collection) on its first day at the box office.

Hrithik’s chiselled body and warm attitude has floored many from the gay community and this special gesture will only add to the long list of Hrithik Roshan admirers.

Hrithik blames himself for verbal spat with Salman

Much has been written and talked about Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan verbal spat. Hrithik Roshan is a peace loving man and the actor proves it when he confesses that he was wrong in sparring with Salman Khan back in 2010. Things soured between the two when Salman, 46, criticised Hrithik’s film Guzaarish starring his former girlfriend Aishwarya Rai, saying, “not even a dog watched it”. Hrithik, too, had retaliated sternly.

According to reports, the 38-year-old Bollywood hunk says that his reaction to Salman's comment on his then released movie Guzaarish was not appropriate.

At one of the promotional events of his film "Agneepath" Hrithik reportedly said that he was wrong.

"Instead of choosing a public platform to retaliate, I should have picked up the phone and spoken to him (Salman) directly," Hrithik said.

So is he going to call Sallu now? “No. He is far beyond those things and so am I. Sometimes, you tend to say things in the heat of the moment but all that passes. I am not in the business of having fights.”

Interestingly, at that time Hrithik was great friends with Shahrukh Khan but recent reports indicate towards a sting in the relationship. Is this why Hrithik is turning to Salman?

Hrithik rubbishes directing ‘Krrish 2′ rumors

Bollywood Greek God Hrithik Roshan dismissed the news saying that he is directing Krissh 2 alongside papa Rakesh Roshan. Krrish 2 is the sequel to Krrish in which he reprises the role of a superhero. The film featuring Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranuat and Vivek Oberoi is expected to hit cinemas this year.

Buzz was that the hunky actor had gone behind the camera for some scenes. The film is actually been directed by his father Rakesh Roshan.

According to reports, Hrithik said that he was “only acting” and not directing the film.

"Yes, I've been an assistant director to my dad for a few years, but that's where it ends. Krrish 2 is entirely dad's baby and his work," he said.

He adds that he has no plans to turn director at present but is not denying that completely. There are interesting projects, direction will happen as and when and if it ever has to! He hasn't even given it a thought yet.

Right now the handsome actor is busy promoting Agneepath in which he plays Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, the character played by Amitabh Bachchan in the 1990 original.
