Ranbir Kapoor, the playboy and classy actor of Bollywood abode, is quite a busy bee nowadays. Ranbir Kapoor is earning accolades and laurels by the minute. As if sweeping all the award ceremonies this year with his Rockstar performance wasn’t enough, he has now found a fan in an acclaimed actor of the industry, Paresh Rawal. We hear that the latter is completely in awe of Ranbir’s talent.

Recently, Rawal was asked to name that one young actor he thinks can become the next megastar of the Bollywood. He promptly answered Ranbir Kapoor. He explained that Ranbir is promising enough to become the next megastar. Citing Raajneeti’s example, Paresh said that everyone looked incompetent in front of Ranbir in the film. He was spectacular and terrific.

As much as we agree with your statement Mr. Rawal, we wonder if you meant Ranbir was even better than Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpayee and the likes. For him to reach the levels of these stalwarts, Ranbir will have to add a few more credible movies to his film tally. Also, it will be too early to dismiss Ranbir’s contemporaries. You never know who can show the spark when and become the new future of Bollywood. We think we will wait before we term Ranbir as the ‘only one’ as there are people who have the potential to go places just like Kapoor.

Post his success with Rockstar, Kapoor has made himself utterly busy with the films. He is currently working in two movies - ‘Barfee’ (with Priyanka Chopra) and a romantic flick made by Ayan Mukherjee (with ex-flame Deepika Padukone).

TIFF celebrates Indian cinema

The third day of the film festival commenced with Michael Winterbottom's Trishna, a portrayal of the plight of destitute women in India, and ended with Akshay Kumar's sport-driven story Breakaway


The third day of the Toronto International Film Festival was dedicated to Indian cinema. And this year's entries have perfectly complemented each other. Michael Winterbottom's saga Trishna is the British filmmaker's take on Thomas Hardy's harsh and melancholic novel Tess of d'Urbervilles, adapted to the social injustice that exploits destitute women in India today.

Akshay Kumar's production Breakaway, on the other hand, documents the revolt of first generation Canadian-Indian youth from their immigrant families in a sport-driven story.




Trishna stars Freida Pinto in her biggest and most ambitious role yet since her discovery in the 2008 blockbuster hit Slumdog Millionaire. Director Winterbottom's transposition of Hardy's story is overtaken by his strong sense of visual India.

Cinematographer Marcel Zyskind has incorporated a blend of landscapes and teams it with city life. Music composers Shigeru Umebayashi and Amit Trivedi have kept to a traditional music score.

Freida's look in the film epitomizes the Rajasthani village girl, with her tightly drawn single plait, unflattering salwar-kameez, and no make-up. She is the central force in the film. It documents her struggle as she tries to get her family out of poverty and her relationship with Jay, the playboy property owner of a five-star hotel.

While the film is an intriguing adaptation, the character Trishna is too one-dimensional in her submission to contain the heartrending denouement of the original Tess. Riz Ahmed as Jay, again an unresolved character, manages to convey the tragedy of his own aimless, cushioned life.



The next entry, Breakaway, made entering the old-world Elgin Theater for the screening a very difficult feat. Huge crowds lined the streets on either side to watch producer Ajay Virmani present a line-up of Punjabi dancers, an elephant on one side and on the other Akshay Kumar.

The film, which was scripted by Vinay Virmani, has a deliberate pacey, sunny-side-up look and feel, capturing the spirit of Punjab. The group of Sikh lads is led by Rajveer Singh (Vinay Virmani), whose ambition is to excel in Canada's leading sport, ice hockey.

His father (Anupam Kher) disapproves strongly, even more so when the sport leads Rajveer to become enamoured by a Canadian girl. The film opens doors to a cultural exchange between Canada and India.

Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone has reportedly refused to accept a Playboy offer of Rs 7.5 crore to appear without top on the cover of the men’s magazine, says a media report.

According to an international ad agency, Deepika was to pose for the September issue of Playboy’s international edition, but she backed out at the last moment.



Deepika, sources say, felt that she would never do anything that could cause embarrassment to her family.

84-year-old Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy magazine, twice-married in the past, is to marry for the third time to his 24-year-old girlfriend Crystal Harris, Miss December 2009.

Hugh Hefner, announced Saturday on Twitter that he and Crystal Harris had got engaged Friday on Christmas Eve.

"When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory", Hefner tweeted.

Hefner, known around the world by his nickname, Hef, divorced from his second wife, Kimberley Conrad, earlier this year. His first marriage to Mildred Williams ended in divorce in 1959.

Playboy photographer offers actress Neesha Singh Rs 3-Crore for Nude Photoshoot?

Hold your breath guys. South siren, actress Neeshaa Singh has just been offered a whooping Rs 3-crore by an Australian photographer – who claims he is affiliated with the international adult men’s magazine Playboy – for a nude photo shoot. According to actress Neeshaa Singh’s publicist and manager, Flynn Remedios, the photographer Clement Andrew Martins contacted Neeshaa Singh via Facebook, claiming that he was an international photographer and on special assignments and glamour and hi-fashion shoots for several sophisticated men’s magazines including GQ International, Playboy and also publications like People, Newsweek and USA Today. He said he would be interested in working with Neeshaa Singh for an international men’s magazine.

“We were of course intrigued and asked him to email us more details. He wrote back saying the shoot he was talking about would be for Playboy and would be shot in Europe over a span of one week. He also claimed that his agency would be willing to pay the equivalent of Rs 3-crore for a full-frontal nude shoot for the centrespread plus all expenses and travel and stay,” informs Remedios.

Meanwhile the sexy Neeshaa Singh has not yet decided if she is doing the shoot or not. “We are still verifying if the entire thing is a hoax and will decide about the shoot only after that,” explained Remedios.






Playboy star rejects Bigg Boss offer

British model-actress Kelly Brook has turned down the offer to appear in Bigg Boss , the reality show to be hosted by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan , despite being promised a whopping pay cheque of 18 lakh.





Brook, who is famous for her curvy figure had grabbed headlines when she netted half a million dollars after posing naked for men's magazine Playboy and had also famously stripped for her debut Hollywood movie Pirahna 3D.

Producers of the show, which airs on TV channel Colors, wanted a international star for the fourth season and were keen to sign Brook, but she turned down the offer.

"Kelly told the bosses that she is putting all her efforts into her film career in Hollywood and could not commit to the show. Bur she was flattered by the interest," said a source in the channel. The source added that the channel is now trying to line up Hollywood pin-up and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson .

Anderson who has fallen on hard times after mismanaging her funds had also appeared in the original British version of the show called Big Brother.
