Prakash Jha chooses Katrina over Kareena

0

Bollywood queen Katrina Kaif is sexy, smart and most wanted actress from Bollywood industry to Fashion world. It was heard that the actress had grabbed a meaty role in Prakash Jha's next film "Satyagrah" which is based on the issue of corruption.

So far, the battle for the female lead was being keenly fought by Kareena Kapoor and Katrina but now it appears that Kat has eventually won this round. This will be Katrina's second film with Prakash Jha after Raajneeti (2010).

Katrina and Prakash Jha have shared such a great working relationship, that she’s eager to accommodate Satyagrah into her busy schedule. She has tremendous respect for the director, since he gave her the chance to prove that she could act too, besides being a glam doll.”

According to the reports Katrina will be seen in a de-glam avatar, similar to her persona in Raajneeti. The actor played Arjun Rampal's wife in the film, who later enters into politics. Satyagrah is based on the subject of corruption and is loosely inspired by the Anna Hazare episode.

Katrina will be paired opposite favourite screen hero Akshay Kumar. Considering the number of hits they’ve had together, Jha feels that they will work best together. One hears that Akki may well produce this film too. Also that Madhuri Dixit is expected to be a part of the cast.

Gulshan Grover finds its hard to kiss Katrina

0

Katrina Kaif debuted in Bollywood in 2003 with Boom. The fashion- gangster movie, which was mentioned as a soft porn flick in disguise by critics, bombed at the box office. The film had a lip-lock scene between the Raajneeti Actress and the bad boy of Bollywood Gulshan Grover.

Boom, is one movie that Katrina would not like to stick to her acting career since she is one of the most successful actress in Bollywood today. However, what she cannot disassociate herself from is the controversial kissing scene where Katrina Kaif smooches Gulshan Grover.

In a recent interview, Gulshan Grover revealed that the kissing scene in Kaizad’s directorial film Boom was the most difficult sequence that he had ever done in his career.

The Boom team had apparently got only two hours to shoot for the lip-lock scene in a submerged aquarium at Hotel Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Since Gulshan was extremely nervous to shoot for the scene, he along with Katrina Kaif practised the smooch several times in a closed room.

Gulshan Grover even added that while he was practising the lip-lock scene with Katrina, Amitabh Bachchan walked into the room and cheered him. This, he said only increased his stress further.

Well, the worse was yet to come….

As Katrina and Gulshan appeared before director Kaizad, he suggested that Katrina glide over the table, grab Gulshan by his collar and smooch him. Gulshan Grover was apparently shocked to hear this as he did not practice the scene.

However, Katrina Kaif was extremely confident of pulling out the show and helped him cool down. They then went ahead with the lip-lock scene that later became the most talked about sequence though the film flopped badly at the box office.

We welcome the new serial kisser in Bollywood. Well, we are talking about none other than the cutie, Ranbir Kapoor.

The awesome chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri in their upcoming flick Rockstar is making rumour mills work over time. The actor locked lips again in Rockstar, after Raajneeti and Anjaana Anjaani.

Sources say, “both Ranbir and Nargis knew how integral the smooch was to the movie and therefore had no issues in docking their lips.”

Will Katrina take on small screen?

The beautiful & lovely Katrina Kaif is the flavor of the season. Her role as a demure wife of a politician in RAAJNEETI to the sexy 'Sheila' and the lovely 'Laila' doing the red hot tomato dance, she has made people stand up and applaud. Riding high on her recent successes and enjoying every moment of it, at the recent BIG Television Awards she not only sizzled on TV but also said she loved the medium.

Now that's really good news for all television channels looking for glamorous celebrity hosts and anchors for their shows. Films can make wonders work for a pretty face, (don't we all know that a good face can launch a thousand products!) never mind her knowledge of the language! But television gives nobody a chance. The viewers just dissect, analyze and even simply write off the star anchor. Remember, nobody ever thought that Salman would make a good anchor, but he proved critics and everybody wrong. He just moved on comfortably with the show and took it to dizzy heights... and there was no looking back. So the opportunity for gorgeous Katrina is huge ...she can take a plunge in to television, with some cue from her good friend Salman.

Katrina is terrified to work with King Khan!!!

Katrina Kaif admits that working with the young actors is much more fun than that with the older ones. By young actors, Kats means actors like Ranbir Kapoor in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and Raajneeti and Imran Khan – Mere Brother Ki Dulhan which is about to release.

“I don’t think anyone will mind if I say that it is very different working with older heroes because the age difference is of about 20 years, and just about two to three years with the younger heroes with who you can even do nonsense on the sets.

For instance, Imran would come on the sets, he would kick me playfully…at times there would be nothing constructive what we were doing..there is so much bachpana..”

Well, coming to the point now, Katrina confesses that she is super terrified working with senior actor Shah Rukh Khan. She will soon be seen working with him in Yash Chopra’s next.

“I don’t know what it will be like working with Shah Rukh but I have heard that he makes his heroines very comfortable which is good.

I am only on hi, hello terms with him and now I am doing Yash Chopra’s romantic film with him! I look at him longingly but am always short of words while in his company,” says Katrina.

Katrina Kaif says that she is an exception who hasn’t grown up watching SRK’s movies.

“I have not grown up watching his movies at all. He is now, he is there and I am here now and I look at it from that angle. And I definitely don’t think Shah Rukh Khan has seen me growing up either,” she jokes.

Exclusive Music Review Of Aarakshan (August 12, 2011)

0

By Joginder Tuteja, August 1, 2011 - 10:37 IST

EXPECTATIONS

Despite the fact that Prakash Jha's last film Raajneeti had boasted of some memorable music, there is still wee bit apprehension about what really would be in store for Aarakshan. Yes there is a romantic pairing of Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone but then given the serious/topical nature of the film, it must indeed have been a challenge for composer trip Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyricist Prasoon Joshi to get the kind of soundtrack in place that carries enough potential to make an impression outside the theatrical run as well.

MUSIC

Write your own music review of Aarakshan Thankfully it is a good beginning for Aarakshan with 'Achha Lagta Hai' turning out to be a catchy melodious outing. The kind of track that manages to make an instant impression due to the intrinsic simplicity that it carries, 'Achha Lagta Hai' also boasts of good lyrics by Prasoon Joshi who amalgamates poetry for Saif's character while making Deepika's portions more jovial and straight-to-the-point, as is also suggested as a part of the song. While Mohit Chauhan is good as always, it is Shreya Ghoshal who seems to be having maximum fun while rendering this number that also reminds one of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's 'Agar Tum Kaho' from Lakshya that had a similar mood and theme.

A celebration number about rising to greater heights as and when opportunity comes calling, 'Mauka' is a hardcore situational track. Surprisingly though the song doesn't quite rise above mediocrity and just manages to pass muster without making one bothering to give it a second listening. However the makers seem to be quite confident of 'Mauka' as they have actually included it's 'remix version' as well. From a 'desi' feel, the song which is co-composed by Prasoon Noshi moves into a Western mode but despite coming together of a horde of singers, namely Mahalakshmi Iyer, Raman Mahadevan, Tarun Sagar, Gaurav Gupta and Rehan, there isn't much that one finds appealing about 'Mauka'.

A song with a strong classical base is heard next in the form of 'Kaun Si Dor' which has Pandit Chhannulal Mishra and Shreya Ghoshal coming together to create a rather sombre outing. It is difficult to imagine the situation in the film where this song would appear since in isolation it just doesn't have much in it to appeal to a wider segment of audience. Eventually the song (which appears again as 'Saans Albeli' as a solo by Pandit Chhannulal Mishra) boils down to merely being a part of the narrative though one strongly suspects that it may end up slowing down the proceedings in a dramatic fare like Aarakshan.

Situational mood of the album continues with 'Roshanee' which has a revolutionary touch to it and is expected to play during the portion of the film when things are heating up as good takes over evil. Shankar Mahadevan leads from the front here in this song which is a decent hear but then again the problem lies in the fact there isn't any shelf life for the song beyond the film's run in theatres.

OVERALL

Aarakshan doesn't boast of the kind of score that has in it to make waves commercially since almost all songs mainly have a situational appeal to them. Yes, at least 'Achha Lagta Hai' is good that prevents Aarakshan from becoming totally forgettable. However despite low expectations from the soundtrack here, the end result is far more being satisfactory.

Deepika’s romantic song in Aarakshan with Saif

0

Deepika Padukone wanted her own romantic melody in Aarakshan. Apparently, on seeing the vibes that the love ballad in Raajneeti created between Ranbir and Katrina, Deepika asked for a number as romantic as 'Mora Piya', the love ballad Katrina shared with Ranbir Kapoor in Prakash Jha's Raajneeti. That was the specification which Deepika apparently gave director Prakash Jha while requesting him to add a love ballad for her and her co-star Saif Ali Khan in Aarakshan. That was how the number 'Achcha Lagta Hai' was born. Says a source, "Deepika sent Prakash Jha a very cute message saying she wanted a love song on a par with Raajneeti's 'More Piya', with a smiley that Prakash just couldn't resist.

He tweaked his script and made space for the love song." It may be recalled that during the shooting of Raajneeti in Bhopal, the same city where Deepika later shot Aarakshan, Deepika had paid Ranbir and Katrina Kaif a surprise visit and had called off their relationship thereafter. Says Deepika, "I was really looking forward to shooting this song and it's come out to be amazing.

Prakash ji has a really good sense of music. I remember how 'Mora Piya' was such a rage. I remember messaging him to please give me a good romantic song in the film. It's always on loop on my iPod, wherever I am travelling. And now 'Accha Lagta Hai' which is such a playful and cute romantic song. " Wonder if 'Achcha Lagta Hai' would be on Katrina's iPod.

Satsang not on backburner, to resume with Katrina

0

Satsang is back on track and Katrina Kaif would stay on to be a part of it. Announced last year by Prakash Jha who was then busy filming Aarakshan, the film was said to have been put on a backburner. But not anymore as Jha is formulating plans to make his Satsang a reality and also reunite with Katrina after Raajneeti."Around the time when Aarakshan was announced last year, many were surprised with Deepika Padukone as the chosen one instead of Katrina Kaif. After all, the young woman had just delivered a good performance in Raajneeti and many were of belief that Prakash Jha would look at her to play the part of Amitabh Bachchan's daughter in the issue based film. However, Jha chose to take a different route and soon threw a surprise by announcing Katrina as the leading lady for his next film Satsang", informs a source who has been closely tracking the film's progress. All this while it seemed that Satsang may just stay on as a mere announcement so that all controversies around Deepika replacing Katrina could die down.

So while Jha found himself at peace while putting together his yet another ambitious venture that featured biggies like Amitabh Bachchan and Saif Ali Khan, Katrina too moved on to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. "Satsang wasn't forgotten though", says a source close to the production house of Jha, "It is definitely happening. Once Aarakshan releases, Jha saab would take a call on whether Satsang would be his immediate next film or would there be something else made in between."

Ranbir-Imran to clash as Rockstar takes on Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

0

Now this is one clash that could well be the biggest of the decade. One can already sense trade salivating at the very prospect of Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan, two of the hottest young stars around, to be taking on each other. Reason being that their Rockstar and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan would now be clashing at the box office on 9th September.

"It wasn't planned this way though", comments a trade source, "Though Mere Brother Ki Dulhan was announced months ago and the release date too was fixed well in advance, as has been the policy of Yash Raj Films, Rockstar has actually come as a surprise. It was initially supposed to release much earlier." This in fact is true because earlier there were talks of a three way clash between Salman, Hrithik and Ranbir when their Ready, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Rockstar were expected to arrive on the same day. However, better sense prevailed and Salman's Ready was (for all the right reasons) was given a free run. "Still one did expect Rockstar to arrive soon after Ready. That didn't happen though as the release date of this Imtiaz Ali directed has been pushed around for a couple of times already.

Now that the new date is 9th September, tongues have already started wagging in the industry on whether this has been intentional. "Though Ranbir does have an edge over Imran, it is still early days to underestimate anyone", says a prominent filmmaker, "If Ranbir had Raajneeti last year, which by the way was a multi starrer, Imran had a solo hit in I Hate Luv Storys. Both of them also had a small success each in Anjaana Anjaani and Break Ke Baad respectively. You never know in future who ends up taking an edge over the other.
