Nupur Mehta denies any involvement in match fixing
01 month ago

Little known Bollywood actress Nupur Mehta who acted with Sunny Deol in 'Jo Bole So Nihal' all of a sudden, is finding herself flashed all over the media. Her picture was published in the Sunday Times for her alleged link with bookies to homey trap cricketers.
The paper carried a picture of the actor, with the face blurred, wearing a green sequin bikini.
The London newspaper (Sunday Times), in a front-page article headed: "English cricket in bung scandal" said it had evidence that tens of thousands of pounds was being offered to players to throw part or all of international matches, including last year`s World Cup semi-final between India and Pakistan.
Nupur Mehta, whose blurred image was featured by The Sunday Times of London as the Bollywood starlet with match-fixing links during 2011's India-Pakistan World Cup cricket semi-final, on Monday denied the allegation and has declared she plans to sue the newspaper for maligning her name. Nupur Mehta said she was a cricket fan like any other but had nothing to do with the match-fixing case.
On this issue Nupur said “I got a phone call from abroad. But I took it as a joke initially, but now it has become a serious matter. I am shocked. The allegations against me are baseless and there is no truth in it. Even though I am a big fan of cricket but I have no relation with cricket.”
"All these allegations are false. I am not involved in this I can never think about match fixing. My pictures have been used without my permission by Sunday Times," Nupur told reporters here.
"I am upset... I was at my home watching the match and not at Mohali during the India-Pakistan match," she added, speaking in Lokhandwala near Infinity Mall.
Nupur said cricket had always been associated with Bollywood.
"I am honest and innocent," said the actress. She parked her car at the road side, came out dressed in a black knee length dress and spoke to the media.
While Nupur continues to deny her involvement, some other names have cropped up. A source said, "There is a possibility of another actress who comes from a political background being involved in the fixing mess."

Sunny Deol becomes actor…finally!
After working in close to 100 films in a three decade long career, Sunny Deol has finally turned into an actor. Well, don't be alarmed as it is for a part to be played on screen actually. Though he has played a cop, gangster, businessman, sportsperson or an obedient son/protective brother in dozens of films, being an on-screen actor is something that had been missing from his repertoire. However now this would be finally happening in BHAIYYAJI SUPERHIT which is all set to go on floors next week.

"Yes, Sunny paaji is turning into an actor for this action comedy. In fact he is playing a Punjabi from Canada who wants to be an actor and his long due dream finally comes true. Since he is playing his age in BHAIYAAJI SUPERHIT, one can well imagine how Sunny would be approaching his role of a wannabe actor waiting for a right opportunity since decades. It is a hilarious part and his fans would end up seeing a new him", says a close associate of the actor.

Dharmesh Darshan: Dilip Kumar has talent, SRK is amazing!

The debate about self made stars versus scions of famous filmy families is almost as old as the industry itself. Legends like Dilip Kumar, Sunil Dutt, Dharmendra etc. and from the current top stars, Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, who have made it big by the sheer dint of their labour and talent are standout examples. But the one cannot question the brilliance of an Aamir Khan, the towering screen presence of a Sanjay Dutt or Sunny Deol or even the star power and charisma of a Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, who all have filmy background but are super stars in their own right.
Ajay & Tusshar are 2012′s ‘Singhs’
Playing a Sardar in a Bollywood film is definitely the 'in' thing. Akshay Kumar started it all, Saif Ali Khan joined in as well, Salman Khan played one in HEROES and Ranbir Kapoor in ROCKET SINGH. Going by the current fad, Ajay Devgn is all set to play a sardar in his upcoming film SON OF SARDAR. Not only Devgn, but the most unsuspecting Tusshar Kapoor is also happy to wear a pagdi in his next release - CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI.
''Yes, of late quite a few B-town folks are playing a Sikh protagonist'', says a filmmaker, ''Earlier it was pretty much the territory of the likes of Dharmendra and Sunny Deol who were rightly known as the 'sons of soil'. Other senior actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt too have experimented by playing a Sardar. However in recent times it is Akshay Kumar who started the trend with SINGH IS KINNG and now other actors are hopping on to the bandwagon as well.''

TUSSHAR KAPOOR and AJAY DEVGN
It seems that Ajay will be well-liked by the audience in a sardar look. ''Ajay is playing the central protagonist in SON OF SARDAR and has already shot for it in Punjab. He had earlier played a Sikh protagonist in THE LEGEND OF BHAGAT SINGH but it was a relatively serious affair. SON OF SARDAR has been designed as a full-on-entertainer though and Ajay has gone an extra mile to get the nuances of a Sikh character right'', says a source from the production team.
On the other hand CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI would see Tusshar Kapoor as a sardar for a major segment of the film. An out and out comic affair, the film is directed by Samir Karnik who hit gold with his full-on Punjabi drama in YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA. Though he doesn't have Deols on his side this time around, the filmmaker is hoping that 'being Punjabi' would reap benefits for him yet again for his latest outing.
Tusshar says, ''The film has a North Indian backdrop to it and I had fun playing this character here. Personally for me comedy has always worked and Samir has made sure that this one is a full-on masala out and out romantic comedy. CHAAR DIN KI CHANDNI is totally my genre and honestly, this film is the best thing that could have happened to me in the recent times.''
A couple of years ago it was Saif Ali Khan who turned sardar for one of the two characters that he played in LOVE AAJ KAL. It was a serious character but Arshad Warsi got into a comical zone when he portrayed a sardar character in DOUBLE DHAMAAL. This year though it would be the turn of Ajay Devgn and Tusshar Kapoor to get into the Sikh zone.

Revealed – The plot of Sunny’s BHAIYYAJI SUPERHIT
02 months ago
Now this one caught us really off guard. For his upcoming film BHAIYYAJI SUPERHIT, Sunny Deol is going through two major changes. First and foremost he won't be playing a Punjabi in the film and secondly, he is playing a Don who, hold your breath, wants a film to be made on himself.
Informs our well placed source, "With the success of YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA behind him, Sunny has made up his mind to do more action-comedies. One such change is to stop playing a Punjabi in each of his films, as is the case with BHAIYYAJI SUPERHIT. Secondly he would be seen as a Varanasi based Don who dreams of seeing himself on the big screen."

SUNNY DEOL
To facilitate this mad affair, he seeks the services of Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor who are playing a director and a writer respectively. While Arshad has played an actor in SHORT KUT - THE CON IS ON (where Akshaye Khanna had played a director), Tusshar was seen as a writer in his last release THE DIRTY PICTURE.

Karishma Kapoor : It’s fitness and not being skinny !

Her svelte figure may lead one to believe that Karisma Kapoor has starved her way to fitness, but the actress tells us that’s not true. “People are shocked to know that I am a very typical ‘Kapoor’ in the sense that I am a big foodie. I have very bad eating habits. I used to eat biryani and chocolate cake all the time. But our (Kareena’s and mine) trainer taught us to eat right, taught us to eat every two hours, and feel fit and fantastic,” Lolo reveals.
It’s fitness and not being skinny that’s Lolo’s goal, she adds: “Size zero is just a tag. Both Bebo and I work out, eat right and endorse a healthy lifestyle. Starving and craving for the size zero figure is actually very harmful to your body.”
No more action for Sunny paaji?
Be prepared for some shocking news: Sunny Deol is planning to retire his “dhai kilo ka haath”. Realising that he’s been doing that act for way too long, Sunny paaji now wants some changes for his upcoming films, and an image makeover may be on the cards. In his next venture, Sunny plays a don who wants a film based on himself. “Yes, Sunny paaji is going in for a complete makeover with this film,” says a source. “In Bhaiyyaji Superhit, he is enacting the role of a don from Varanasi who has a desire to have a film made on him.” Of course, action forms a part of the narrative, our source added, but it will take place in a riotous comic setting. Fun times ahead!
